Danny Diablo & Diablofest 2012

Two weeks before the world was supposed to come to and end NY Hardcore legend Danny Diablo hosted his second annual Diablofest in lower Manhattan. This year it was at the studio at Webster Hall and the headliners were the Beatnuts and Crown of Thornz. Diablofest is for music fans who can appreciate both hardcore music and hip hop. Danny does his best to make the event packed with artists who are up on stage to show the crowd a good time. Rebel Ink was in the building snapping photos of the performers and those in attendance that wanted to show off their ink (there were plenty around). The event was only 1 month after Danny Diablo released his fourth hip hop record and the first on his own label; Ill-Roc Records. The release party for the album titled "The Blood of Eden" was hosted by Skam Dust and held at Tammany Hall in the Lower East side. The venue was packed and along with DJ Coz spinning the record, live performances were mixed in from a few artists who showed up to support the hardcore legend. Panic, Lord Willin, and Eye Ra Haze hit the stage rocking the crowd keeping the evening full of entertainment. Check out the flicks below. "The Blood of Eden" is available now on iTunes. click HERE for a link.

Winter Inspires

I spent the month of December cooped up indoors working on a screenplay. It is a short film that I pitched to a few producers and will get behind the camera again to direct in 2013 with Onetencrew Films. The story is the perfect piece to ink during the cold winter days. It tells the tale of a broken man, estranged from his family, showing up to to face them again to deliver a eulogy at his brothers funeral service. I'll be posting again once casting is complete.

Don Capria in Rocktober

Yvonne Schafer, Federico Castellucio, Mr. & Mrs. Stephano Acunto

Peter Greene & Family
This month I kicked it off with a screening from Actor/Writer/Director Federico Castelluccio. The film "Keep Your Enemies Closer" was a short he scribed about a German intelligence officer tracking down a world infamous cartel leader in NYC. It starred Peter Greene and Yvonne Schafer, and Manny Perez. It was a very nice screening hosted at the SVA theater on 23rd. Federico is a graduate of the school and went back to his roots to display his work. He is in talks now with the project in hopes of turning it into a feature.

Eye Ra Haze - St. Vitus

This month I spent every Tuesday with my artists Eye Ra Haze at St.Vitus in Brooklyn where they performed their first set of shows in NYC. The band trusted their heavy metal sounds with melodic transitions while  Natasha Singer soothed the musicians storm with her calming voice. The band turned out great numbers for any night of the week, especially a Tuesday. Log on and add them on Facebook or Twitter to find out when the perform next. Check out a live clip from the show below.

Black N Blue Bowl

Sheer Terror

Skam Dust & Tim Armstrong

Youth of Today
Every year after the amazing Black N Blue Bowl, I wonder how the team is going to top the last show. And every year they do it! This year I cant explain how much excitement filled the room. Rancid, Youth of Today, and Sheer Terror among the talent that rocked out. There were so many hardcore and punk kids enjoying  the show. If you have a love for the hardcore music scene and you cant make it out to shows on the regular I highly recommend making it to the BNB Bowl each year. They do not disappoint.

MEZ, SUB, FACT - INC.

L-R Mez, Sub, Fact

It was a reunion of sorts. I got the chance to kill two birds with one stone. At an art Gallery hosted by my high school friend and old painting accomplice, I got to link up with my old partner in crime from the INC crew. The show was at Joshua Linear Gallery and it was hosted by Tony Curanaj aka SUB and I was reunited with graffiti partner FACT aka Vincent Ficarra owner of the brand and design company Revolver New York. The show was a huge success and I look forward to Tony's next big event. The photos shown, though hard to believe are his oil paintings.
